Capt. John Blaney served his apprenticeship at sea with the British Merchant Navy but has spent the last 20 years working on Superyachts travelling the world, ranging in size from 35m to 95m. He earned his Master’s license back in 2007 and since then has been in command of a number of high profile Superyachts which are operated privately and have also been available for exclusive commercial charters. He has also worked as a Project Manager / Owners Rep on two New Builds and taught at The National Maritime College of Ireland. When not at the helm of MY Hana he can be found on the water in Dublin Bay enjoying sailing with his family or restoring his old 36’ IOR Racing Boat from the early 1980’s which was designed by David Thomas.
