James Lissiman


I started out filleting fish, after school at the local fish and chip shop. I then trained as a chef in the Royal New Zealand Navy serving 3 years, and served on-board several vessels including the HMNZS Wellington on a 6 month deployment to Japan, Korea, China, The Philippines and around Australia.

From a family of artists, I left the Navy and went on to gain a Bachelor of Spatial Design from AUT and perused a career in Kitchen Furniture and spent 8 years in High End Residential Design.

I then was introduced to Yachting and in 2007 and landed my first position in the SOF and went on to sail throughout the Med and then spent several years sailing and exploring in the Pacific and South East Asia. After 8 years of yachting it was time for a change, and I began looking for my next challenge.

It was back home one summer 2 years ago I entered a local Hot sauce competition, with my fejoa, kiwifruit and kafier lime hot sauce, my manuka smoked yellow pepper and habanero hot sauce, and my smoked beetroot hot sauce, and although not placing, I realised my passion for creating unique food products, and from that moment on JIMMYS was born.

We now have been operating for just under one year, and have now grown into our own commercial production kitchen on the gorgeous Hibiscus Coast in Whangaparoa, Auckland New Zealand, where we manufacture and distribute our flagship range of natural artisan foods.

We have a weekly residency at the iconic MATAKANA FARMERS MARKETS 30 mins north of Auckland, and are about to expand into retail with the addition of bar codes on our new labels.

Our first offering is a range of gourmet sauces and hot sauces that I have developed over 12 months.

The sauces are all completely unique and all have their own distinctive signature.

We are soon launching stunning 2 pack gift boxes of each sauce, each with its own unique style, and we are developing a range of rubs and seasonings as well as our next generation of sauces in our JIMMYS test kitchen.
