It has always been the people; the people I’ve worked with, the people I’ve worked for and the people I’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with all whilst visiting the most incredible corners of the globe. The moment I completed my first ‘run off your feet season’ as a young, inexperienced and energetic stewardess, I was sold. It quickly became apparent that this was a ‘sink or swim’ industry, the luxury of time never on your side, you needed the right balance of integrity, motivation, dexterity and smarts to make it work like the most well-rehearsed theatre production.

Yachting is dynamic and being agile is key, and with this I was fortunate enough to be heavily involved in two interior refits and a new build project. These projects equipping me with invaluable knowledge and understanding of the foundations behind all aspects of the yacht, which I believe were integral in my development as a Chief Stewardess. As stand out career milestones, I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to be involved in these projects.

Though for me, it’s about the relationships built, some of which can be challenging but by far has been the most rewarding. Building teams whose foundations come from their respect of each other has proven just that. Forming bonds of friendship and trust that are incomparable to those in any regular workplace. Developing loyalty to each other and essentially our wonderful Owner’s, with whom I am now in my 10th year working for. I know from experience we are only as successful and powerful as our team is.

I have been incredibly fortunate to have worked for and alongside many women and men who have provided boundless guidance, structure and lead with integrity, whom I have endless gratitude and appreciation for. A characteristic that I constantly strive to achieve and display for Stewardess’s finding their way through the industry. I truly hope to have an effect on the success and careers of those Stewardesses that are now navigating their own path, as I was so gratefully supported throughout my journey.

Thank you for the nomination.
