Luke Humphries

Hi there! What an honour to be nominated, very humbled.

I am an Australian Master Mariner with 25 years in the game (time flies when you’re having fun!). I began in 1995 as a Deck Officer cadet in the Australian Merchant Navy spending 8 years on a variety of vessels from Tankers and Container Ships to Ferries and Bulk Carriers. This lead to time in the Oil and Gas Industry which I also continued during periods of relief work in the early days of my yachting career.

For the past 17 years I have worked in the Yachting Industry on reputable Charter and Private yachts cruising extensively worldwide. With new build experience and a number of large refits under my belt, I always look forward to new challenges and the rollercoaster that is ‘the wonderful world of yachting’. My career to date has allowed me to develop a rare and dynamic skill set whereby I am comfortable managing large scale operations without compromising on quality, attention to detail or relations.

Owners, crew and industry professionals would acknowledge that I am an excellent leader, manager and communicator. My success over time has largely been facilitated by my ability to manage and engage with crew which is often the greatest challenge on large yachts. My proven track record for successfully exceeding expectations is reflected in my history as a much sought after Captain, however, this is not something I take for granted.

There are some incredible Captains out there working tirelessly across all aspects of the yachting industry, but we as Captains, would not be able to carry out our roles successfully without the support of all those we come in contact with. It’s a team game and everyone has an important part to play, so thank you one and all for making this amazing industry what it is……., very, very special!!
