Managing the Diesel Bug

Oliver from Fuelcare will run an important session on how to correctly sample, test and treat microbiological contamination, often known as ‘the diesel bug’, and then delve into the recent changes to marine fuel specifications. The ‘diesel bug’ is a common issue found in bunkered fuel, which left untreated can ultimately cause engine failure. The workshop will explore both laboratory & real-world instances of this fuel problem with case studies from European Superyachts, as well as the latest MARPOL fuel changes; how these contribute to poor fuel quality, deteriorate engine components & reduce fuel efficiency.
