The Practical Care of Art Onboard

The world’s superyachts are known for having extensive and impressive art and collectable portfolios onboard, but what many crew don’t realise, is often the art value onboard is worth more than the vessel itself. Therefore, an understanding of how to clean, maintain and move precious art and collectables is becoming an increasingly sought-after skill set. Preservation of value, avoiding deterioration and averting irreversible damage are vital issues for owners. This workshop introduces art history and looks at the type of art you may find on superyachts.

The main focus of this session will be on care, cleaning, maintenance, sharing key advice on how to care for pieces and most importantly what not to do when handling art collections. Where to place art onboard, how to move it and how to handle storage and shipping are all covered. This session will arm attendees with enough information to work more confidently in an area that can be sometimes quite daunting and often unknown. Art industry expert Pandora will also be available for private onboard consultations. In these one to one invaluable sessions, Pandora can review high-value assets that you have onboard, your liability with these precious items and how best to manage and preserve them.
