Like most people in the industry, I stumbled across the world of yachting through my travels in 2013. At the start of 2014, I enthusiastically booked my courses thinking, “what could possibly go wrong?!” …and so the adventure began.
Zimbabwean born, now resident in Zambia, how was a land-locked, farm girl, going to make it on the open seas?! I started my career as a sole stew on a little 26m in Antibes. After that, the yachts ranged from 47m-74m, travelling to some extraordinary and exciting destinations across world.
During my last 8 years, I have explored other opportunities that yachting has to offer and have tried to expand my skills. These include wine courses, management skills, flower arranging, massage and yoga teaching. Three years ago, I decided to pursue more of a leadership role and focused on some chief stew courses.
I have been working on M/Y Lady Jorgia for 2 years now. Teamwork, trust, loyalty, compassion, hard work and most importantly FUN, are the key fundamentals I employ in my mission to strive towards a balanced life of being a professional yachtie. It is a tough industry to be in and certainly tests one’s abilities to deal with situations but I love the job and the people and hope to continue to improve the lives of those around me and to keep setting new goals and enjoying the lifestyle. I would not be the chief stew I am today without the undying support of not just my team, but my whole crew!
