Helena’s Scottish and Gibraltarian heritage, and her father in the Royal Navy, meant she
grew up in an adaptable, outdoor and maritime environment. Her passion for the sea has
played across many aspects of her life, from crossing the English Channel on a 27 ft sail
boat to specialising in marine life during her Biology degree at St Andrew’s University.
She developed a taste for the yachting industry through temporary gigs on M/Y Eclipse and
M/Y Faith during her university summer holidays. However, it wasn’t until after completing a
Master’s degree in Nutrition at King’s College London and a 2-year graduate programme at
a global food company, she decided to venture back in.
Following completion of the Crew Academy’s Purser course to complement her commercial
experience gained in Sales and Marketing placements during her graduate programme, she
set her eyes on the Purser role. She returned to the industry in December 2020 continuing to
work on some of the largest superyachts – M/Y Lady Lara and M/Y Lady S – before landing
her first Purser position within the year.
Passionate about her role, she strives to learn and develop every day while improving the
mood of those around her, whether it’s cracking jokes or researching local recommendations
for the crew. She is excited for her coming years as a Purser: all the people she will meet
and work with, and where her yachting adventure will take her.
