I’m Brian, a 23-year-old from a quaint town in North Wales, UK. At the age of 15, I embarked on my maritime journey by joining a local boat hire company. Over the course of seven seasons, I immersed myself in the world of leisure boats, managing staff and creating unforgettable experiences for customers.
Inspired by my father, I followed his footsteps and joined the esteemed local lifeboat crew at 17. Through rigorous training and unwavering dedication, I earned the position of ILB Helm, leading life-saving missions. I also took on roles as a launch vehicle driver, casualty carer, and 2nd station mechanic. Even when I am away, I remain committed to my crew, eagerly awaiting on-call responsibilities during my leaves.
Alongside my life-saving endeavors, I pursued an apprenticeship at Airbus UK, dedicating four years to become an Aircraft Structures Fitter. While I enjoyed constructing aircraft, my curiosity was piqued by the “Yachting Industry.” After consulting friends already working in the field, I discovered that it perfectly aligned with my skills and interests. I seized the opportunity to complete the Superyacht Cadetship at UKSA, and my dedication and efforts were rewarded with the prestigious Nautilus International Cadets Cadet of the Year award.
Now in my second year as a deckhand, I find myself aboard M/Y Savannah, an 84-meter private/charter vessel. Combining my experience in boat management, life-saving skills, and aerospace craftsmanship, I seamlessly transitioned into the world of superyachts. Every day, I feel humbled to be exactly where I am meant to be, surrounded by the sea and the incredible people I have the privilege to work with and serve.
The passion I have for the ocean and the fulfilment I derive from my work make me immensely grateful for the opportunities that have brought me here. I am dedicated to continuing my growth and contributing to the maritime industry, always striving to make a positive impact on the lives of those around me.
