Emma Crowther

Born with a passion for sports and fitness and constantly being outside growing up, I pursued a bachelor’s degree in this area whilst also competing in high level sport. Due to an injury this redirected my career path, leading me into the maritime industry as a stewardess.

I have been in the industry for 7 years. For 3 ½ years I honed my skills as a stew on large yachts, along the way meeting amazing people and gaining valuable experience. However, realising that I constantly wanted to be outside I decided to shift my career focus on deck. And so, from then I moved over starting a deckhand and now I am currently working as a bosun on a 70m M/Y Firebird, hoping to have my OOW by the end of the year.

I enjoy motivating individuals and I believe in the importance of teaching and mentoring, watching new crew learn and thrive and most importantly enjoy themselves. I am passionate about encouraging females and males who have had thoughts about switching to pursue their goals, and to help them believe in themselves that they can do it.

My passion still lies deeply in watersports and fitness and fortunately I have a job that surrounds me with awesome people and gives me the opportunity to carry this on.
