David Summerfield has over 36 years international security experience. A former Royal Marines Officer he has operational experience in a number of different theatres and extensive experience of international diplomacy and strategic negotiation at government and MOD level.
Since 2010 he has provided risk mitigation solutions to the maritime and offshore industries. Initially as Operations Director for a leading Private Maritime Security Company he established and led an operations team, delivering multiple commercial transits per month for commercial and private clients in the Gulf of Aden/Indian Ocean and Gulf of Guinea. More recently as Business Development Director for a leading Risk Management Company he was the responsible for the business development, design and delivery of integrated security solutions for the offshore industry off East/West Africa, Madagascar, the Middle East and Far East.
He has extensive experience of international and national security regulations and working with Host Nations and clients to provide effective and compliant risk mitigation solutions. As a member of a SCEG working group he also contributed to the early development of the ISO/PAS 28007 Private Maritime Security Certification. David has been working for Securewest since 2015.
