As a team, we in the Fly Fleet are highly motivated to make a positive impact in the areas we are fortunate enough to cruise, by undertaking humanitarian and outreach projects and giving selflessly in support of local communities. Our commitment to this work is highlighted by the Fly Fleet Core Value: “Identifying new and creative ways of leaving a lasting and positive impact on the communities we visit.” Team work, collaboration and building relationships with different groups have been critical to our successful involvement in humanitarian work. Some of the projects, organizations and local agents we have had the privilege of working with over the past year include:
- Working with Yacht Aid Global to install water tanks and water filters and deliver water
bottles and school supplies to almost 8,000 school children across four islands of the
Galapagos. - Supporting Waves 4 Change in Cape Town, who provide mentoring and surf coaching to
underprivileged youth. - Assisting the coaching of surf lessons for the San Francisco-based non- profit, “The City
Surf Project” which supports underprivileged youth. - Working with the organization “Hope House” in support of underprivileged communities
in Mauritius. - Releasing two sea lions in to the wild with The Marine Mammal Center in San Francisco,
and assisting their team access whale carcasses for the benefit of their research. - Assisting learn-to-swim and surf lifesaving programs with Connect Ocean in Costa Rica.
- Installing “Intellireefs”, an artificial reef system, with material science and coral
regeneration experts in the Caribbean. - Donating educational supplies to all 21 schools on Majuro in the Marshall Islands with
the support of Romeo Reimers at the Central Pacific Maritime Agency. - Undertaking a vaccination program and delivering aid supplies in Vanuatu with Justin
and Claire from SEAL Superyachts. - Donating educational supplies and toys to orphanages in the Seychelles and Fiji with the
support of Alastair Maiden at Seal Superyachts and Christine Ragg at Baobab. - Conducting a Diabetes testing program for the Ministry of Health in Fiji.
