Drug and alcohol use is an issue rooted deep within society and culture. This is reflected onboard, especially as superyacht Crew are predominantly in the 18 – 30 age bracket, again the highest users of recreational drugs and alcohol in society.
In an honest attempt to talk openly about a variety of strategies to deal with this onboard, this is an opportunity to learn a great deal from each other’s experiences. Captains also have years of experience onboard as they worked their way through the ranks, so are blessed with multiple perspectives on these issues.
Captains, Partners and ACREW all care about keeping Crew safe and we hope to open an ongoing dialogue to improve practice.
