Seeing that there industry has given me so much over the years, I took it upon myself to start mentoring a select number of individuals who are looking to get into the yachting industry. I do this by giving advice on training and certification, reviewing CV’s and putting together templates on what I think a CV should look like. I manage expectations, give a detailed description of what life is like onboard, duties and what would be expected of each crew member. I’ve been also giving guidance on how to approach job interviews and etiquette.
Onboard, whist not on charter, I spend an hour every work day teaching and revising with the deck crew about colregs, nav watches, search and rescue etc as they are working towards getting bigger certifications and it’s not so bad for me as it helps me remember 😉
