Lauren Ryburn

Well I’ll start off by saying I’m a Kiwi! I’ve been a Stewardess in the Luxury Yachting Industry since 2014.

Over this time within the industry I became alarmingly aware of the effects we were having on the environment. The amount of pollution that is produced and the throw-away mentality that we have adopted is quite unsettling. At times I had felt completely helpless and torn between doing the job I love and doing what feels right.

Until one day, I had the realisation that I’m not helpless at all. In fact, as a Crew Member within the Yachting Industry, I’m in a powerful position where I have the ability to inspire positive change. So I began my journey towards making eco-conscious changes within my own daily practices onboard the boats I worked on and inspiring my fellow crew to do the same.

I then created The Green Stew alias and Instagram page with the hopes of inspiring and bringing yacht crew together to share knowledge and gain insight with the aim of driving a green movement within the yachting industry!

I believe if we all work together we have the power to move towards a greener more sustainable future!
Where we can be in harmony with the planet and continue to enjoy the beauty and abundance of this big blue ocean that we call home.
Because let’s face it, our Industry wouldn’t exist without it!

I now also run a website and blog called Thegreenstew.com and a Facebook group “Conscious Yachties” which is a place where likeminded individuals can come together to inspire and support one another in their eco endeavours.

This has been such a rewarding and heart warming experience for me and I have have had such a great response within the Yachting community since I launched The Green Stew several years ago.

I have had the amazing opportunity to be a part of many eco initiatives that have taken place, have met and collaborated with many amazing likeminded eco crew and have featured on a range of different yachting platforms where I have been able to spread the word on awareness and inspiration.

I am very grateful for my nomination for such an award and I am also thankful to Acrew for having a category that supports and recognises environmental awareness within the Yachting industry!

Thank you so much ????
