Owain Rowlands

Being from a seafaring background I have been around the sea and shipping from a very young age. I would say my training really started when I joined as volunteer crew member for the RNLI at the age of 16, I’m still an active member now when I go home and I use the skills I have learnt over the years in yachting to teach other volunteer crew.

My yachting career started at 19 working as a deckhand, I quickly got the bug so over the years started to progress forward with my career. Firstly completing my Chief mates certificate then later onto my masters where I was lucky enough to take my first command on a commercial 56meter Benetti.

Over the years I have contributed to the yachting industry where ever it was possible, I developed guidance on MLC regulations, pushed to have one of the first red ensign flagged yachts’ to implement the MLC so future yacht crew can be protected and feel safe within their workplace.

I currently run Seven Sins a very busy charter yacht, I have built a professional team and we have stuck together for the last few years providing the safest and best experience for any guest who steps onboard. Every day is a challenge but we always find time even in the worst moments to laugh, if you can’t laugh and have fun then there is no point doing this job!
