Inge Blum

Having been in the hospitality industry for years serving as an Air hostess and Cabin Controller for private airlines in and around Africa, as well as being a qualified massage therapist, the journey towards starting my yachting career was an organic process whereby I was able to transfer my skills and experience from air to sea. Starting in the industry at a slightly older age served as an advantage as I was offered my first Chief Stewardess role on a boat after only one year in the industry. I have been on M/Y Mimi La Sardine for 3 years and joined the vessel when it had just been launched. I was responsible for setting up the interior of an entirely new build and worked very closely with the owners on what it is that they wanted. M/Y Mimi La Sardine is the proud winner of the 2019 Boat International’s “Best Interior Design award. The stunning organic interior showcases a muted gold accents and generous use of naturally weathered wood to create a warm and relaxing ambience. I am very focused on maintaining this unique interior which requires a large amount of care considering the patina of all the brass, as well as the raw, refurbished wood onboard.

My deep passion for wine has not only inspired me to complete my WSET level 2 and 3 (with distinction), it has inspired me to pursue my WSET diploma,  one of the most sought after and challenging certifications in the wine industry.

With my background in wine, I was the proud winner of the Wine Pairing Competition at The Barcelona Boat Show in 2019.

With the organic and spa-like feel of the boat, I am able to explore my creative side when it comes to table settings, flower arrangements, housekeeping and the general set-up of the interior. We aim to give the guests a different atmosphere when stepping on board, whereby it does not feel or look like a typical superyacht, but more like a retreat.

Being part of the LGBT+ community myself, I am passionate about Diversity and Inclusion in the Yachting Industry. I aim to promote opportunities for those who would usually be considered last. I hope to be a role model to others by simply being who I am and still striving towards my goals. I am a fervent supporter of organisations such as She of the Sea, who are making an impactful difference in the industry and providing real, hard-hitting statistics.

In the past 4 years of being in the industry, I have only improved and grown. I pride myself on my organisational and leadership skills, as well as my ability to work with people from all walks of life. I am thorough and conscientious but also believe in a balanced lifestyle of fun and living in the moment.

After 4 years in the industry, It is an incredible honour to be nominated as best Chief Stewardess.
