ACREW is proud to announce that GMT is the title sponsor of the Crew Awards in 2020. Since 2010 ACREW has strived to increase the standards of service and professionalism in the superyacht industry. After 8 years of delivering professional development events for superyacht crew, ACREW decided to develop a new concept; “The Crew Awards”. The Crew Awards recognise superyacht crew for their excellence in their work.
The World Trade Center, the location of the new GMT training centre, right in the heart of the Barcelona Harbour, offers the perfect venue to celebrate the GMT Crew Awards on 10th October 2020. Barcelona, becoming a more and more popular destination for superyachts, is a logical choice for us. GMT Barcelona Training Center is the latest addition to their flagship in Malta & other locations. This led to a natural selection for the venue of the third Awards ceremony of the Crew Awards to be Barcelona
The theme this year is the Glamorous 50’s. Think Grace Kelly, glamorous shapes, exaggerated skirts and petite waists.
It is my pleasure to work with GMT as our 2020 Crew Awards Title Sponsor. MaritimeMT is known for its commitment to provide high standard training services to the maritime industry and fits very well with our mission to support excellence onboard superyachts. A perfect match.”
Onno Ebbens, Director & owner ACREW
GMT, a training Institute from Malta with training centres in various locations around the world and equipped with some of the newest training technology on the market, has taken the Crew Awards Title Sponsorship. GMT, founded in May 2010, was publicly endorsed by the Head of Registry of Malta flag state as well as by the Maltese Minister of Transport, Ian Borg. Stating the importance of the maritime industry for Malta as a country, the Maltese government reconfirmed its support for GMT’s future. ACREW and GMT found an alignment in their combined missions to help superyacht crew develop their skills and support their career progression.
“GMT is glad to join ACREW on this venture celebrating the hard work and commitment to excellence of Superyacht crew around the world. We are happy to welcome the crew to an evening of recognition and extend an invitation to visit one of our training centres. As an Institute, MaritimeMT strives to push Transport Malta’s Certification framework and promote international superyacht training and increase the standards worldwide. Our superyacht team is made up entirely of maritime superyacht & professional crew, with the aim of tailoring training towards the needs of the superyacht industry. We are sure this event is just the start of a long-standing partnership with ACREW.”
Jesmond Mifsud, Chief Pilot – Malta Maritime Pilots, MaritimeMT Board Member
Despite the current situation, the Crew Awards team is confident that the event can be held in October and is naturally keeping a close eye on industry developments.
