Petty Officer Sunstrom is a native of McDonough, GA and began his career in the Coast Guard on October 31 of 2006. After basic training, Petty Officer Sunstrom was assigned to Aids to Navigation Team Galveston, TX where he conducted Aids to Navigation Missions. In 2010 Petty Officer Sunstrom then attended Marine Science Technician A School and was assigned to Sector Jacksonville where he conducted prevention and response missions.
His next assignment was in 2014 at Sector Miami, FL. He primarily conducted Port State Control Examinations and was in charge of the Commercial Fishing Vessel Program for the AOR of Sector Miami. In 2018 Petty Officer Sunstrom was assigned to MSD St Thomas, USVI where he primarily conducts Port State Control Examinations and response related missions. He is happily married to his wife Mallory Sunstrom for 10 years.
