Colin Squire has been in the Superyacht Industry since 1978 when he began as a deck hand on a 147 ft yacht called Bernadette.
He then worked for a variety of owners and on many of the largest yachts around, travelling the world throughout the late 70,s and 80’s. On leaving school he had trained as a book printer and worked in this industry until the age of 24.
He obtained his Yacht Captains tickets but left his seagoing career in 1990 to begin a marine art business that allowed him to work with several marine artists that would paint original artwork for yacht owners and he launched a series of fine art prints, The Classic Yachts Of the World. These would be created for Owners to give as gifts to their onboard guests.
His YachtFile YachtFile poly-pack of brochures and company information was launched in 1994 and he would deliver these packages personally onboard to yachts four times a year. This was discontinued in 2021 after having delivered over 5,000,000 company brochures etc to large yachts. One single trip would entail his having to drive over 10,000 km. throughout the Mediterranean.
His first Bi-annual magazine, Yachting Matters, was launched in 2000 and this would be distributed alongside the YachtFile packs. This was discontinued also in 2021. It was focused on the worlds famous yachtsmen and the vessels themselves and covered a great variety of other editorials relevant to the Superyacht Industry.
He has never sold his magazines, they are delivered as complimentary copies directly to industry professionals and the yachts themselves.
His latest creation, the Superyacht Knowledge magazine was launched in 2021. This is also Bi-annual and hand delivered directly to yachts, Over 2500 yachts are handed a physical copy.
SYK is a company focused magazine and was created to promote companies to a very special audience of HNWI.
He also created www.superyachtcaptains.com that now has over 2100 professional Captains as members.
Colin works alongside many of the industries Charities and Institutions helping where he can in their promotion.
