I was in the yachting industry as crew for eight years as a Sole stew/Chef and then Chief Stewardess. I worked on a range of yachts but spent most of my time on a worldwide sailing yacht with an adventurous itinerary. Throughout my time onboard, I also juggled my freelance writing career, writing about my adventures and the industry, which I now do full-time. I write for various superyacht-focused publications and create content for different clients.
It’s important to acknowledge wins, small or big, for crew in the industry; ACREW provides a way for us to do so. I was interested in joining the panel to particularly judge the environmental and sustainability awards, as this is an area that I am passionate about. Over my eight years, I saw several ways we could improve when it came to improving the sustainability credentials of the industry. In recent years the industry has stepped up its game concerning sustainability, so I am passionate about acknowledging the crew that help this cause.
