I’m Kiyra Rathbone, Chief Stewardess, and Purser. I’ve been working in the Superyacht Industry for 8 years.
I grew up in South Africa on the beautiful Wild Coast, rooted in nature. Which has played a big part in who I am today. I feel we should all be working together to protect and preserve our planet. My first job on a Superyacht was very eye–opening. I was blown away by how stunning and luxurious everything was, but I also noticed behind the scenes that there was a lot of unnecessary plastic waste and harmful chemicals onboard. There was a need for change, so I created The Green Stewardess, an Eco–ambassador company that strives to make a change to the quantity of single–use plastics and harmful chemicals that affect our marine environment in the Superyacht Industry.
The goal of The Green Stewardess is to help yacht crew make eco–friendly choices, including sourcing and testing “greener” products and creating awareness amongst industry professionals, to change mindsets and old habits. Our mission is to make a difference and be a part of the solution against single–use plastics and chemical pollution on our planet and to influence positive change in the Superyacht Industry.
