Lorraine developed an interest in Travel Medicine which led her to study for a Masters of Science degree in Travel Medicine and worked at sea as a ships nurse for 5 years worldwide. During this time she helped coordinate many ships emergency procedures, such as medical emergencies, helicopter evacuations, ‘Man Overboard’ and fire evacuations. Now she continues with her intensive care work, teaches on Wilderness First Responder & Incident Management courses for people in the exploration industries and also runs certified outdoor first aid courses in the Alps. She also consults for exploration companies to support them to review their medical kits and emergency response plans.
