Tim Morley

Founder of Morley Yachts

I was a Deckhand myself for three years (1997 to 2000) on the 75m LEANDER G… back when
a 75m yacht was considered big.

Coming ashore in 2000, it seemed like a great idea to become a broker and take advantage
of the fat commissions which I calculated would make me wildly rich in no-time. If anybody
would like advice on becoming a broker then I am happy to give you the benefit of my
experience over the last 22 years, but the short answer is “I wish I had known how hard it
would be’.

I have enjoyed the ever-challenging and never-boring road that has led to the creation of
Morley Yachts (started in 2005) and it’s development into an established boutique
brokerage firm. We do charter brokerage, charter management, as well as sale & purchase.

I am still a very active broker, as well as running the company. I am on the Board of MYBA
and chair the Environment Committee, with the current focus being to gather and share
information about HVO fuel which can reduce CO2 footprints by about 90%.

I absolutely love the ACREW Crew Awards. I think the act of shining a light on the best of the best
is inspirational, and it is fantastic to be reminded about the way crew make the magic
happen. When I see exceptional crew, it makes me proud to be a part of the industry and
reminds me why we all do it… and why owners and charterers love it.
With more and more yachts it is important to see standards remaining high, and it’s great
that the Awards recognise those who are getting it right.
