I am humbled to find myself nominated for a second time and this was an unexpected surprise. I offer sincere thanks to whoever saw fit to nominate me once more.
With 15 years under my belt as a yacht engineer, and eight of those years as a chief engineer, I’ve spent most of my tenure on the Amels 181 series, contributing to one build and then transitioning to La Familia. I am now currently based out of Germany on a new build Lurssen. How the career as progressed.
My journey into this field isn’t unique – many of you know the tale. I was that boy helping my father mend automobiles, and not seldomly, those he had incidentally wrecked. During my A-Levels, I dabbled in fixing the cars of friends and family for some extra change, or better yet, beer money. And then, my best friend – a fellow yacht chief engineer – extended an invitation for me to learn sailing in Croatia. The owner of the company took note of my knack for repairs and offered me the role of a flotilla engineer. I haven’t looked back since.
My job brings me joy and satisfaction – it never feels like a burdensome duty. The people I share my living and working spaces with have a special place in my heart. The ever-changing landscapes, the new faces I meet, and the persistent engineering puzzles maintain my attachment to the seafaring lifestyle.
I’ve now attained my SV Chief Engineers ticket and live in France with my extraordinarily supportive wife and our 2 stunning daughters.
Outside of work, I like to keep myself engaged with project cars, motorbikes, and flying, along with any other endeavours that ignite my curiosity. I have an insatiable thirst for learning, and I intend to continue pursuing new knowledge and taking on challenges.
I express my gratitude once more for this nomination. Your recognition truly means a lot to me.
