The maritime industry is known for its challenging work environment, long hours, and unpredictable weather conditions. But for me, it’s been an exhilarating journey that began as a passion for sailing and has evolved into a successful career spanning over 15 years.
As I grew older, I realized that my passion could be turned into a career, and I set my sights on becoming a maritime professional.
After completing my education in pharmaceutical studies, I started my career as a sailor, working my way up the ranks through sheer hard work, dedication, and a thirst for knowledge. I quickly gained a reputation for being a reliable and skilled crew member, and my exceptional work ethic did not go unnoticed.
After gaining the needed experience I have decided to contribute by sharing my knowledge with others. This is where in 2009, I founded Speed Sailing one of the first sailing schools and yacht rental companies in Lebanon. Founding Speed Sailing, I had the opportunity to teach hundreds of seafarers and promote maritime awareness.
Through this experience, I was able to enhance my skills and earn the professional C.O.C level Yacht-Master 500 GT Unlimited and open up a new opportunity to demonstrate my commitment to professional development and excellence in successfully completing the Train the Trainer (TTT) 6.09 and 3.12 certificate which helped me in training a considerable number seafarer.
A few years Later, thanks to my contributions to the industry, I was selected to become the first Middle Eastern captain to hold the position of Vice President in a prestigious organization named The International Sailing School Association- ISSA.
Along the way, I have faced challenges, including open heart surgery, but I have never let them stop me from achieving my dreams.
My journey did not end there, but I went on to establish the first private maritime school in Lebanon, the International Maritime Academy. This academy was considered to be a pioneer in offering exceptional training experiences to thousands of seafarers in the MENA region.
In addition to my successful career in the maritime industry, I am also deeply committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and I was dedicated to meeting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One of my top priorities is the environment, and I am a passionate advocate for fighting pollution. As part of my CSR initiative, I developed a marine line of self-care products that are not only beneficial for humans but also environmentally friendly, designed to protect and preserve marine life. Furthermore, I am also dedicated to giving back to my country and have demonstrated this through my commitment to providing exclusive training for the Lebanese army and general security. Through my tireless efforts, I have collaborated with numerous NGOs and made a significant impact in improving the quality of life for people in my community while fostering gender equality and preserving the natural environment for future generations.
Today, I am proud to say that I have merged all of my aspirations into one company, Edelweiss. This company offers more than 16 maritime management services and is considered a leading company in the region. Through Edelweiss, I am able to provide exceptional services to clients, while also contributing to the growth and development of the maritime industry.
The culmination of my journey is marked by thousands of miles sailed, invaluable experiences on various yachts, and traversing continents by sea, all of which have enriched my understanding and expertise in the maritime industry.
Now, after 15 years in the industry, I am thrilled to be acknowledged for my hard work and dedication, and see the award as a testament to the passion and love I have for the maritime industry.
