My career began at sea when I was just 17 years old, embarking on a cadetship with Carnival UK. Now, 17 years later, I am still passionate about my work and enjoy it more than ever. Throughout my journey, I’ve learned that our strength comes from the support network around us: friends, family, team, and shipmates. Without this network, our achievements would be much harder to attain.
As a Chief Engineer, I believe my role goes beyond maintaining the ship and its equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. It’s also about leading from the front and supporting other departments to deliver the ultimate luxury experience for our guests and owners. What sets engineering on yachts apart from other marine environments is the understanding and appreciation that we are just facilitators of this – part of the platform that enables others to thrive, succeed and deliver excellence.
I owe a debt of gratitude to a diverse group of friends and mentors who, often unbeknownst to them, have guided and nurtured my growth. They helped me through both good and challenging times, laying the foundation of knowledge and standards that I still adhere to today.
I am committed to passing on this knowledge and these values to the next generation of engineers. I believe the future of our industry is bright, particularly if we can all take steps toward creating a more sustainable one.
