Harriet Knibbs

I entered the wonderful world of the yachting industry upon finishing school at only 18 years old. Truthfully, yachting was meant to be a gap year before I went on to study events management at University. However, it only took one season and I was hooked! Little did I know then, that this wonderful industry would give me twelve years of continual education far greater than the walls of any lecture hall. I briefly swapped my sea legs for the land as at the age of 21, I was employed as House Manager for a 42 million pound two story penthouse in the prestigious area of St James Park, London. I will always be incredibly grateful that someone recognised my potential and bestowed that responsibility on me at such a young age, as it built my confidence and further fed my ambition to keep applying myself and see where this industry would take me.

Nevertheless, my heart has and always will be at sea. At the age of 22, I became Chief Stewardess on an 87m M/Y. Over the years, I have worked on vessels from 27m to 135m, continually pushing myself to reach my next goal, and up-skill where needed. From a young age I have always loved responsibility, planning, and logistics so coordinating an interior team, organising itineraries and planning budgets makes me feel at ease.

Since 2022, I have held a dual position as Interior Manager and Purser aboard a 65 metre vessel with successful back to back charters. The strength of the boat lies in the symbiotic relationship amongst the entire crew onboard. I am incredibly fortunate that I have two amazing Captains who support me, and an interior team who strive again and again to deliver excellence so effortlessly.

At this present time, I’m working closely with the owners to assist with various Interior Design projects, which has allowed me to merge my passion with my career. I have been keenly invested in interior design for several years; I am currently renovating my fourth residential property back home, and I also run two successful Airbnb properties. These endeavours allow me to bring the level of excellence we provide onboard into my homes for my guests.

I’m absolutely honoured to be nominated for the ACREW Chief Stew / Purser Award 2024 and recognised for my 12 years in the industry. Nevertheless, I could not do this without my fantastic Crew and Owners.
