At 22 years old, I bought my 1993 Beneteau Oceanis 510 to begin chartering in the Bahamas. I grew up visiting the Bahamas via powerboat and fell in love with the ocean; diving, boating, and simply being on it. I studied marine biology in college, but quickly realized I wanted to be on the water, not in a lab, and pursued my captain’s license, becoming a 6-pack captain at 19 and 100-ton at 21. I ran charters for one year in the Bahamas and, during this time, slowly developed my Instagram account and YouTube channel. Social media is now my full-time job while I sail single-handed. I have had to tear apart my engine, fix or replace 90% of the systems on my boat, and have done this mostly alone, and try to document most of this. My goal is to inspire others to build their confidence and chase their dreams; when I bought my boat I didn’t really know how to fix anything and can now maintain the majority of my boat. I have been single-handling the Caribbean for nearly 3 years now with plans to cross the Pacific in the upcoming seasons.
