Kiyra Rathbone

I am honored to be nominated for the Sustainability and Environmental Crew Award. Thank you to Acrew for engaging with the international crew and encouraging unity, high ethics, and camaraderie.

My name is Kiyra, and I am passionate about creating change and fostering sustainability, environmental stewardship, and effective communication in various roles. With a passion for the sea and a commitment to environmental preservation, I have built a career that combines maritime excellence with eco-conscious initiatives.

As a Chief Stewardess on numerous vessels, I have developed skills in hospitality, team management, and operational efficiency, while also advocating for marine conservation and ethical standards in the yachting industry. Parallel to my maritime career, I have served as the Director of PR & Communications at an international nuclear power plant, focusing on community, dissemination of information to the public, sustainable and environmentally friendly initiatives. My team and I worked to communicate complex technical information, fostering transparency and enhancing public understanding of nuclear energy and its role in sustainable solutions. I was privileged to collaborate on turtle conservation projects along the Agean coast as well as tree planting and sustainability awareness initiatives within the local communities.

Beyond my professional roles, I am passionate about hands-on environmental activism. As The Green Stewardess, I have led initiatives like beach cleanups, tree planting, and feeding schemes to support local communities and promote sustainable practices. I also advocate for environmental education in underprivileged schools, emphasizing the importance of connecting with nature. In all my endeavors, I strive to combine my expertise in communication, maritime hospitality, and environmental activism to make a positive impact on the planet and inspire others toward a more sustainable future.
