My name is Andrej Grgic, and I am a culinary-trained Head Chef with over 12 years of experience in high-class restaurants and hotels, along with 10 years in the yachting industry. I am dedicated to maintaining high levels of organization and creativity, always striving for positive reactions. My friendly attitude, self-motivation, flexibility, and professional attention to detail are the cornerstones of my approach.
I began my culinary journey at the Culinary School Opatija, where I not only trained but also played a key role in setting up a hotel from scratch. This involved planning and organizing menus, gala dinners, weddings, banquets, and budget control.
From September 1998 to September 2004, I worked at Restaurant” Plavi Podrum” Volosko Croatia, a fine dining fish restaurant one of the best in the country.
I started as a school practitioner and, after finishing school, continued as a chef before being promoted to head chef in my final year. Over the years, I have mastered various culinary techniques.
My dedication has earned me several accolades, including winning the National Fair Food Trophy in Zagreb, Croatia, in May 2006. I also received a gold medal for the Mediterranean Menu at the ‘Golden Olives’ competition and another gold for a Gala Menu at the International Competition of Hospitality and Catering Schools.
I have extensive experience working on various vessels in the yachting industry, and I regularly assist and freelance whenever my expertise is needed. I take great pride in going above and beyond to support my colleagues and fellow professionals, especially when they are under time pressure or facing unforeseen circumstances. I am frequently contacted by previous yacht owners and crewmembers to return to their vessels to provide assistance, which underscores the trust and reliability I have established in the industry.
