I’m Judy the Foodie; food fanatic (it’s in the name 😉 & current sous chef on Loon. I started as a sole chef in the Med & I have made my way onto bigger boats as a sous chef. My goal is to cook beautiful food, using fresh produce & a whole lotta love, with a can-do attitude that brings good vibes to crew & guests alike. I’m a creative at heart & I love coming up with new recipe ideas – this evolved into me getting my A into G & getting a Degree in Consumer Science & product development. Since I was a kid, it’s been a hobby of mine to read recipe books for fun/to get inspo, which I still do on a regular basis. At the same time, I’m very happy to take any requests from guests/crew on board. I have been fortunate to use agents & suppliers around the US & Europe but my go-to ingredients are fresh fruit & veg markets as I believe using what’s in season makes the tastiest food by far! I love going all out with my cooking as well as testing out different foams, emulsions & some good ol’ gastronomy, but at the same time, sometimes simple is best, which is why Italiano is one of my favourite cuisines. I am also a huge fan of modern-Asian fusion. I love being a sole chef as I have creative freedom & I can cook whatever inspires me that day; however, I also love being a sous chef as I believe chefs can always learn something new and keep improving their skillset, especially from experienced head chefs. When I’m not in the galley, I’m exploring a new place, suntanning, swimming in the sea or reading a good (recipe) book.
