My childhood dream was to swim with sharks freely, although growing up in Germany surrounded by mountains that was a far dream. Thus I first started an education as a paramedic and later studied Biology and got my Dive Instructor certification which enabled me to start working with sharks. Fortunate enough I was able to do a 8 week internship aboard the shark diving Liveaboard M/V Bahamas Master and due to my high motivation, hard work and joy around the sharks and guests I became Purser and principal shark interaction specialist diver soon after.
Being Purser on our Liveaboard means being responsible for all aspects of running the vessel in conjunction with the captain, managing the demands and expectations of 16 guests and 9 crew at any one time. This includes guest service and managerial functions on top of diving up to 5 times a day. I also championed our onboard educational program by delivering multiple lectures aboard throughout the course of each trip and making sure the guests go home with great experiences and a deeper understanding about the sharks and their important role for a healthy ocean environment.
