Coming from New Zealand’s North Shore and holidaying in Taupo I think I had a deep connection with the water and it played a big role in my life growing up, wake boarding, sailing and boating. A quick decision in 2013 saw me pack up my life in NZ and career in advertising to move to France to try and find a job in yachting. Nothing could have prepared my for my first role as a sole stew, deck, cook on a small motor yacht based out of Ibiza. However I quickly adapted and learnt the basic and fell in love with yachting, Ibiza and Palma and that’s what kicked my career off.
One of the highlights of yachting career was moving onto Charisma a busy 47m charter and learning under my mentor. Charisma taught me charter life, the in’s and out’s of service and the buzz of making every night the best for the guests on board and working as a team. It was a highly successful yacht in both the crew becoming family, the guest repeating charters and the knowledge which I gained from the Chief stewardess was essential to my career progression. She was able to teach with compassion and love and this was something I wanted to carry on to my stewardesses when the time came to step up.
Since then I have been lucky enough to Chief Invader, Fortunate Sun, Gladiator and now Z all amazing yachts where I have been able to impart my love of yachting and the industry to some amazing stewardesses. My road in yachting has not stopped and I am always looking into ways to up skill myself and gain more knowledge in areas which engage me. I have completed my MPIC, whisky qualifications, wine qualifications and am looking to keep on with study in all of these area’s as well as trying to be proactive in green initiatives on board.
I have a love of food (cooking & eating!) Like to work out and of course enjoy a wine and whisky. If you see us in the yard I am probably feeding the cats!
