Bruno Chailan

Passionate about cooking since my early childhood, it was at the age of 17 that I returned to hotel school to learn the basics of cooking. I left school two years later with my diploma in hand to continue to perfect my training with experienced chefs.

I continued my culinary education at a Relais & Chateaux in Saint Rémi de Provence. After that I joined the 3 Michelin starred restaurant “Le Jardin des Senses” in Montpellier with the Pourcel brothers.

To further broaden my training, I headed to the Caribbean where I discovered the cuisine of the sea and the tropics. This is where I finally made the jump from land to sea, becoming a Chef on sailboats from 22-42 meters.

After several years working between the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, I took a “yachting-pause” to start a family and manage a hotel restaurant.

In 2007, the sea called me back and I embarked on a three-masted sailing yacht as the Head Chef.

In 2009, I applied for the position of Chef de Cuisine on a yacht where I have now been serving the same family for the last eleven years. I have followed these amazing owners on their last four vessels, as well as travelled to their private residences to cook, teach and train the in-house chefs.

Last year I was able to showcase my knowledge, passion and commitment to my craft in the prestigious Superyacht Chef Competition held at the Monaco Yacht Club, where I placed 3rd.

My vast experience and unique interactions has allowed me, even after all these years, to stay passionate about the job. Specifically by cuisine inspired by fresh and authentic ingredients, all while combining tradition and ingenuity. And of course at the same time staying motivated, innovative and positive!
