David Honeybun is the longest serving crew member onboard MY Gene Machine. Originally employed onboard hull 463 when she was previously named ‘Engelberg’. David’s primary roll onboard is as 2 nd Engineer / ETO – We joke that the ETO side of his work stands for ‘Excellent Tender Operator’ as he is often called away to drive the tender onboard. David has built everything from custom outdoor cinemas to custom computerized chart tables while maintaining the yacht to high standards. David’s Job also involves being the yachts commercial drone pilot and ROV pilot. Some of the best moments David has had while working on board Gene Machine is filming Polar Bears 300mile of the north pole, filming Adult Humpback whales and Calf’s on the silver bank in Dominican Republic, filming blue whales and cycling across the Atlantic to raise money for charity. David’s career started with him serving in the Army and then moving on to be a system proving engineer for a large software company. When David is not working he is a keen motocross racer, classic car and motorcycle builder and scuba diver.
