Emma Gyenge

Entering into yachting at the age of 21 , today I feel privileged to have spent the last 10 years being a part of an industry that is capable of creating the most memorable life experiences for its guests and crew. I was a young and eager stewardess that saw an industry that combined nature, 7 star hospitality and traveling the world and I was hooked.

I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by passionate and exceptionally talented leaders in the industry. These key people have played a major part in my development and continual growth while also installing a hunger to create exceptional guest experiences. I have been graced with working on dynamic yachts and for Captains that saw the importance of professional development. From this, I have been fortunate enough to attend many of the GUEST accredited courses and surround myself with other upcoming leaders in their fields. It is an exciting time for the Interior department to have more exposure of the importance of accreditation and seeing it recognised.

My own personal and professional development has always been of key importance to me and I also encourage this in my team. I carry the belief that people thrive in an environment where they are moving forward, up skilling and feeling motivated in their jobs. We work in an exceptional industry where we have the ability to create “WOW” moments that have a long lasting impact on our guests and these come through the platform where people feel creative, supported and in flow. I love creating a tight knit team, where crew are confident and enjoy their roles. I believe team work is key and results in a crew that delivers an exceptional level of guest service.

The yachting world is built on people, relationships, leadership, passion and creativity. It is a joy and a privilege to be apart of such a dynamic environment, which is ever changing and becoming so progressive. I am excited to see such positive changes in the impact we have on our environment. As leaders in our respective departments we have the power to create change and see new practices introduced which support the movement towards greener choices.

Through my own personal studies I am currently in the final stages of completing the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wine and Spirits. Wine has always been a love and I have had the bonus of the ability to incorporate this in my work. Touring the vineyards of the world has also been the wonderful hindrance of studying wine. I thoroughly enjoy being in nature and active, being an avid runner and practicing yoga and mediation in my spare time. If I am not on the sea then you will find me in the mountains, snowboarding whenever possible.

I feel privileged to have been nominated for this award and thank YPI for the nomination.
