My name is Kristian Collins and I grew up on a small farm in the South west of Australia. When I finished school, I completed a 4-year traineeship in carpentry. I enjoyed carpentry, but I was very interested to work on the ocean. I first started working on boats when I was 21 in the pearling industry in the North of Western Australia. I trained to become a drift diver, which I did for 8 years, before a friend told me about the yachting industry. I was curious, so I decided to sell everything in Australia, I packed a backpack, and bought a one-way ticket to Fort Lauderdale Florida. Originally wanting to pursue a career as a captain, I soon learnt that my heart was in engineering. I have been in the yachting industry now for 10 years, and I love it. I enjoy engineering very much. I enjoy the challenge, I am learning something new every day, and it has given me the opportunity to travel the world and meet some very interesting people!! I am very privileged to be currently employed as a rotational engineer on an intimate sized motor yacht. I have a fantastic owner, fantastic crew, and hope to remain in my position for many years to come.
