Born in Yorkshire, England. Got a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Manchester University, but the office jobs on offer following graduation were not for me. Got a 6 week temporary job in Turkey looking after a dozen small sailing yachts, the 6 weeks turned into almost year and at some point a colleague pointed to a 40m yacht and suggested I go and work on them. Returned to the UK and completed my basic courses and headed to Antibes. After many frustrating months I got my first job as a 3rd engineer on a 70m. That was over 10 years ago, now I have my Y1 and I’m chief on a 88m Feadship.
