I’m originally from a small village in the English countryside and began my working life in the engineering and construction industry. In 1991 I departed the UK with the intention to go travelling for 9 months and spent the next 6 years circumnavigating the globe. Starting in Australia I began working in various restaurants and as a Divemaster on the Great Barrier Reef before continuing travel to include Asia, the Americas and ultimately working in New Zealand as a Chef.
In 1997 I joined the Formula 1 ‘circus’ working for the McLaren Grand Prix team until one of the F1 drivers bought a yacht requiring crew, I jumped at the chance and began a new life at sea, initially as Chef/Deckhand before advancing to my first Captain position in 2003. Since then, my career has developed considerably to include extensive experience of both private and charter vessels of all sizes worldwide.
Personally, my wife and our two children divide our lives between England and a home in the French Riviera. I like to spend spare time with my family whenever I can, I enjoy fast cars, cycling, hiking, golf, snowboarding and karting. My son and I both have our own Karts which, while my son races competitively, I attempt to be some sort of ‘wannabe’ Grand Prix driver…
