Shelton Dupreez

Former Chief Mate Shelton is a passionate and award-winning filmmaker and photographer from Canada and South Africa, specializing in documenting guest trips onboard yachts, promotional content, marine wildlife and science at sea under his business, Luxury Yacht Films. With over eleven years experience as crew onboard a variety of vessels, Shelton has cruised and captured some of the world’s most unique and pristine environments, with highlights including expeditions to the Northwest Passage, the Galapagos, Svalbard, and never-before-seen underwater volcanoes in the Northeast Pacific. Shelton envisioned an unmet need in the yachting industry and at the dawn of 2018, Luxury Yacht Films was born. LYF, is a freelance filmmaking and photography service, for private/charter guest trips and expeditions around the world. Shelton combines his extensive yachting experience, with his passion for filmmaking to offer an unparalleled way to capture the yacht and her guests onboard, underwater and from above. His video work in the Arctic won him Best Amateur Film in the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival in NYC 2017, and his wildlife photography and videos have been showcased by National Geographic and BBC Earth. Recently, Shelton has documented scientific expeditions with the Charles Darwin Foundation, Ocean Exploration Trust, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada. His expedition films have played at dozens of influential conferences and events around the world, helping to communicate the frontier science that is moving our knowledge and understanding of our world’s oceans forwards. In addition to his creative achievements, Shelton also holds his 3000GT Masters (Captains) License.
