The PYA is a non-profit association which was founded in 1991, and exists primarily to represent the interests of professional yacht crew around the world. Now with members from over 90 countries worldwide, the PYA is THE body for professional yacht crew.
Using the MCA-approved Service Record Book (SRB), the PYA carefully verifies sea time on yachts, essential for anyone wishing to progress their yachting career, apply for an NoE or CoC, revalidate a ticket or prove time spent at sea to an employer. The PYA’s Service Record Book is the MCA’s preferred method of recording and verifying sea time. In fact, the MCA announced that as from the beginning of 2017, if sea service is submitted to them that has not been previously verified, it will result in significant delays of around 160 days to the issue of the NoE or CoC.
In short, using the PYA’s services will make the process a LOT easier and a LOT quicker for crew!
The PYA has also been appointed by the MCA to verify sea service for non-members on a pay as you go basis.
PYA members benefit from a secure online members’ area, where they can directly upload their documents and sea service and log in to check the status of each one. PYA members also receive a range of special offers from our partners as well as free or discounted entry to our programme of educational and social events throughout the year.
With the support and knowledge of 30 unpaid council members, with hundreds of years of combined yachting experience, the PYA also helps its members daily by providing accurate, unbiased advice on certification, training, welfare, and regulations.
The PYA attends policy meetings with MCA and other administrators to ensure that yacht crew are being fairly represented, and works hard to ensure that the future of the Superyacht industry is being shaped to take into account the best interest of the people who actually live and work onboard yachts. The PYA ensures that the voice of yacht crew is being heard.
The PYA is the ONLY organisation committed to helping professional yacht crew in this way.
The bigger the association, the bigger our collective voice. Join today and be a part of it!
