For those crew new to the yachting scene there is so much to learn and many new experiences to prepare for. The Professional Yacht Association (PYA) present a guide to surviving and thriving in the early stages of your career. The workshop will be presented in three sections. The first section will be an introduction to yachting covering demographics of the industry, types of yachting, career path opportunities, how to present yourself for a job and interview, how to present a good CV and references, work contracts, sea service and the role of the PYA. Section two addresses yachting life including life at sea as a professional, departments onboard and boat hierarchy. The final section covers your role as a crew member including personal presentation, personal hygiene, punctuality, respect, etiquette, behaviour and awareness of cultural differences.
