Rules for temporary admission and what to do if boarded by customs

The temporary admission regime allows non EU flagged yachts to remain in EU waters for 18 months before being liable to pay VAT on the hull. France, and other countries, are increasingly boarding yachts to check compliance with all nuances of this policy. Non-compliance has seen yachts face substantial tax bills. Geraldine from leading customs assistance company YMCA will explain the policy and outline in detail how to ensure compliance. Guidance will also be shared about how to behave of boarded for a customs inspection. Common areas of interest for Captains include cash onboard, weapons, privacy rights, drugs and ultimately, liability. Learn what to say and what not to say in an honest, upfront discussion from those that know. Further topics will be explored in the realms of customs and VAT for superyachts and there will be time to field questions from the audience.
