Communication During a Medical Event at Sea

MedAire, telemedical and safety solution experts for over 30 years, knows the importance of communication in treating a medical event at sea. Their world class program was built to facilitate the flow of patient information to ensure proper treatment, including diagnostics and medical history. When a medical event occurs—routine or life threatening— crew members have immediate access to a team of emergency room physicians and nurses they can call, radio or e-mail at MedLink. Medical Professionals will help the crew member assess the medical event, advise on medical conditions and keep the situation from escalating by recommending medications and supplies from the onboard kits. The MedLink team manage tens of thousands of medical calls a year and are well prepared to provide remote medical assistance to crew and guests. In this session, crew will learn how important their training is for managing a medical event at sea. Participants will learn to efficiently collect the necessary patient information, and how to effectively and quickly communicate with the MedLink providers in order to ensure the best possible care for the patient.
