Crew Awards 2020

The Crew Awards have been developed to reward crew that have proven themselves to be the very best at their job. The Awards are both a personal achievement and an industry-wide recognition of professional excellence.  

In 2020, ACREW celebrated the 3rd Crew Awards ceremony. Award finalists and winners were invited to honour the best of the industry with us. Due to the current COVID-19 situation and travel regulations, ACREW has been organising two separate events. The 2020 Crew Awards Ceremony took place on 28th of November 2020 in the World Trade Center in Barcelona. The Crew Awards Celebration will take place on 24th of April 2021 at the same location.

Live broadcast on Youtube

This event was broadcasted live primarily over Youtube. We hosted the ceremony in the Auditorium of the World Trade Center in Barcelona which was well equipped with the technology required for a live streamed event. All finalists were invited to attend and participate in the live event.

We were heavily promoting Watch Parties onboard vessels around the world. We were also encouraging superyacht crew to have a party onboard and watch the event live. 

The livestream generated 16.852 views on our Youtube and Facebook channel. What is more, CREW AWARDS 2020 reached a number of 197.102 page views counted, and 206.094 on our social media channels.

The Process

1. During the nomination phase which started on 2nd March and ended on 11th May, crew and industry professionals could nominate the best crew in the industry for the 20 Awards.

2. On 18th May all nominees were announced online on www.acrew.com. The voting was open and narrowed down the nominees to 3 finalists per category. Everybody had one vote per award.

3. The three finalists per category were judged by Captains and senior crew, with video interviews and CVs.

The Charity: Transforming Lives

AMBER offers a safe place to live. But it’s more than that. Living situations without employment and without a home can seem hopeless. Amber transforms lives of young people that have difficulties creating an independent and positive future on themselves. If caused by a family breakdown, drug abuse or simply a wrong decision, once you are homeless, it can be very difficult getting back on your feet again.
To move on with their lives, Amber delivers a structured blend of support, training and experience. This approach encourages young people to focus on their strengths and to find their way back again, to look into a fulfilling and positive future.

The Crew Awards expect up to 500 guests to attend the awards ceremony on 28th November 2020. We believe we can use this opportunity to ask every guest to donate a suggested amount of €30 to support the UK based Amber foundation.

As the Crew Awards is about rewarding career efforts, we want to contribute to Amber’s objective enabling people to start their life and their career. Last year, we enabled STCW courses with this charity for people progressing at Amber. This year we want to do the same. Be a part of major support that saves futures!

Sharing the same values, we have partnered up with the yachting industry’s leading data communications company, Axxess Marine, to support Amber in their lifechanging work.
The 4th annual AXXESS MARINE CHARITY RIDE cycling event will be held in early autumn 2020, in tandem with the Monaco Yacht Show. The exact date will be announced soon.
